Latest Update on Things to Do in Old Town Phuket
I visited the Sunday Market in Old Town Phuket on March 2nd to see if there were any new developments. Initially, the market was confined to just one street, but by the end of 2024, the local entrepreneur association decided to expand it by blocking off an additional street. Personally, I prefer the new street because it is wider, and the variety of food and souvenir stalls is similar to the original.
How to Get to the Sunday Market in Old Town Phuket
Most tourists stay on Phuket's west coast, where famous beaches like Patong, Karon, and Kata Beach are located. The most affordable way to commute to Old Town is by using the Phuket Smart Bus, which runs once every hour. I recommend catching the bus at noon, which will get you to town around 1 PM. Try some street food for lunch and explore the area until 5 PM, when vendors start setting up their stalls. For the return trip, head to the Phuket Old Bus Station, which is conveniently located near the market. The last bus back to the beach area departs at 8 PM, so I suggest starting your walk to the bus station by 7 PM, as there are usually long queues for this final trip.
