Restaurants in Old Town Phuket that local people like

There are a good number of Michelin Star and Michelin Guide restaurants in Phuket, but today I will list restaurants that are not on those lists, but local people consider as delicious.

  1. Thai restaurants
  2. Chinese restaurants
  3. Japanese restaurants
  4. Western restaurants

Thai Restaurants

1. Cha Kang Rao

This is a noodle restaurant with reasonable prices. It is not easy to find a restaurant in Phuket with a price range between THB 50-65, but Cha Kang Rao is one of them. The quality and the quantity are very reasonable. One of the most famous dishes here is Tom Yum noodle. I personally like Dry Tom Yum noodle with thin rice noodle. This restaurant also serves Thai Basil Leaf stir-fried with all kinds of meat as well, but I have never tried it. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. It is located at Go Benz, which is one of the Michelin Guide restaurants.

2. Deh Kaprao

This is the restaurant where I have lunch most often.

Chinese Restaurants

1. Kam Jai Mala Noodle Restaurant

In the past few years Thai people started to adopt Mala hotpot and noodle more and more. Kam Jai is one of Mala noodle restaurants I tried in Phuket and I like the most. The quality of the pork bone soup is the best among restaurants I tried.

Japanese Restaurants

Niki Express

If you ask me if this is an authentic Japanese restaurant, I would answer no, but the taste is not bad, and the price is affordable. I have seen many Westerners dine here as well. If you ask me about the prices, I would say it is not cheap compared to big Ramen chain restaurants like Hachiban Ramen. The price range starts from THB 120.
